We are delighted to offer pupils from years 5 and 6 the chance to participate in our Dream Team Football Festival back at Lewes FC’s Dripping Pan. Up to 15 teams have the chance to compete for the Patina Cup on Lewes FC’s hallowed turf! The tournament will be taking place on Thursday 4th May 4:00-7:30pm.

Squads consist of 7 players with at least 2 girls or 2 boys in each team. Matches will be 5-a-side with teams always including a mix of boys and girls when in play.

The entry fee is £6 per player, £42 for the team. Teams will be accepted on a first come-first served basis. This this is not an inter-school competition and teams can be made up of friends from any school. Teams may have their own strip although bibs will be available for each match. All teams need an adult manager plus one other adult for any care needs. This year we are inviting team names relating to our 2023 Moving On theme of “All the World’s a Stage.”

Supporters are most welcome! Come and cheer on the teams and experience the amazing atmosphere at the Dripping Pan. £5 per adult on the gate. The cafe will be serving food and drinks.

To register, please pay for your team on www.patinalewes.com/shop and then complete the form which will be downloadable once you have paid and then email it to Katy Hay katy.patinalewes@gmail.com. Registration closes on Thursday 27th April.

Patina would like to thank Lewes FC very much for the use of the Dripping Pan, Intersport for the trophy and all our volunteers for their invaluable support.

A group of local heroes are running the Brighton 10K for Patina Moving On 2023 parade on Sunday 2nd April. Sophie Civardi, Andrew Perris, Matt Philp, Hannah Ellicock, Nancy Meiland, Maxine Foley-Oates and Kelly Hall are Team Patina! Here are Matt and his daughter and Nancy and her son, Heath who is moving on this year and will be part of the parade!

The Enjoolata Foundation has very kindly offered to match fund money raised for Moving On 2023, up to a total of £2500. So every pound of sponsorship you can give, the Enjoolata Foundation will match with another pound! That amount would cover the cost of all the costume materials and participation of every child on free school meals taking part in Moving On this year.

Thank you in advance so much for your donation, and huge thanks too to Team Patina and the Enjoolata Foundation. You are all helping us create magical moments for local children!

A couple of weeks ago we revealed this years theme to all our Moving On schools so the children would be the first to know their Patina Moving On theme for 2023: All the World's A Stage!

The theme has gone down well with the Yr6s! We've asked them which plays, musicals, pantomimes and performances they'd like in their Parade. They are busy working out their top three and we can't wait to see what they choose!

In the words of the most famous playwright William Shakespeare:

All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,

Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.

Then, the whining school-boy with his satchel

And shining morning face, creeping like snail

Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,

Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad

Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then, a soldier,

Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,

Jealous in honour, sudden, and quick in quarrel,

Seeking the bubble reputation

Even in the cannon's mouth. And then, the justice,

In fair round belly, with a good capon lined,

With eyes severe, and beard of formal cut,

Full of wise saws, and modern instances,

And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts

Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,

With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,

His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide

For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,

Turning again toward childish treble, pipes

And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,

That ends this strange eventful history,

Is second childishness and mere oblivion,

Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

(From As You Like It, Jaques, Act 2 Scene 7)

Our wonderful Emma Carlow has created this beautiful logo for the parade.
