Welcome to Our table - 2024
This year's theme was all about celebrating growing, cooking and eating together. We worked with local charities, GreenCuisine Trust and Moving Sounds to talk about the rich diversity of produce grown locally and the superpowers we get from eating fresh seasonal food.
Each school was given a locally grown fruit or vegetable and we had a lot of fun choosing how to represent them. We had tins of tomato soup, tacos, pea pods, popcorn and lots more amazing costumes. After days of costume making workshops across the area, the children's big parade day came. Despite the rain we had an amazing parade, cheered on by thousands of well-wishers along the streets of Lewes.
All the schools also made a Kooky cupcake which was then presented by children from each school to placed on the giant cupcake stand in the Paddock.
Alongside the Kooky cupcakes, the schools produced their 'Recipe for Life' which was put together in a giant book. This later was displayed at Hamsey Church's Open Day later in July.
The day was rounded off by a Big Picnic which was relocated to Human Nature's Warehouse due to the rain. We celebrated with acoustic music from Keith Ellis, we were wowed by the magical talents of Arthur Coppin and shared some wonderful food.
